This is Bribie's oldest settled suburb, and its plumbing carries every era of that history.
The foreshore filled with holiday shacks and guesthouses through the 1910s and 1920s, the island got mains power in 1953, and the Bribie Island Bridge opened in 1963. The building boom that followed carried well into the 1980s.
A pre-1960 cottage near Banya Street or Third Avenue still on its original water pipework is likely galvanised iron, a pipe that rusts and closes up from the inside as it ages.
The oldest cottages predate mains power, so their hot water has been swapped out again and again over the decades, and even the newer units are now showing their age.
The last census counted 8,162 residents at a median age of 67, and 63.8 per cent of homes were separate houses. Many of those houses are being kept going rather than replaced, which keeps us busy.

Got a plumbing problem right now? Do this before you call:

Open this page the moment something lets go: a burst pipe, an overflowing toilet, hot water gone cold, or a gas smell. It starts with the make-safe steps and goes from there.
Dripping taps, running toilets, bathroom and kitchen work, hidden leaks and gas fitting all sit behind this page. If it holds water or gas in your house, it is covered here.
Blocked drains, sewers and stormwater, plus CCTV drain inspections when you need eyes on what is going on under the yard.
Repair the unit you have, or replace one that has reached the end of the road. This page splits the two honestly so you can tell which one you are facing.

Island plumbing faces a few things most suburbs never see, and they shape how we quote and how we work.
Blocks along Welsby Parade, South Esplanade and the jetty foreshore cop the Passage's salt spray, which eats taps, valves and tank fittings before anything else on the house.
The old hill was cut down to fill in the swamps, so a trench in the town centre hits loose fill and groundwater together. Opening a buried pipe near the shops means working in wet, shifting material.
Near the jetty, house drains installed in the era before PVC was standard are glazed earthenware in short socketed lengths, while the older public sewers are mostly asbestos-cement, a brittle pipe that cracks as the fill beneath it settles.
State coastal hazard mapping marks a strip of high hazard plus a broader medium zone over some of the suburb's lower ground. Rain on the flat grid has little fall to escape by, so foreshore gullies and pits spill when a downpour meets a high tide.
Because sewage here is lifted by pump stations, a storm power cut can send the lowest properties' overflow gullies into spill. We keep all of that in front of mind when we plan drainage and stormwater work.

The quote comes first, so there are no dollar surprises partway through. What moves a price is the job itself:
A tap swap on a Campbell Street weatherboard is a shorter job than chasing a leak under a villa complex. Digging near the shopping centre, where the ground is fill over old swamp, takes longer than a job in dry sand. You approve the figure before we start.

The van is on the island most weeks, and these neighbours get the same service:
These are streets we work, not premises we keep. Where the van ends up changes from day to day.

Whatever the job, you get the same straight answer on the phone that you get on the invoice.
There are no call-out fees for Bongaree jobs, and no added charge for nights, weekends or public holidays.

Every repair sits under our Fix-It-or-It's-Free guarantee (T&Cs apply). If we're late, $100 comes off your bill.
Each job is done by a licensed plumber under QBCC No: 15024607, and a lifetime labour warranty covers the labour.
Licensed and insured, locally owned and operated, with flat-rate pricing.

Whether it is a rusted tap on the foreshore or a sewer line through soggy reclaimed ground near the shops, we plan the job around what your block throws at it and keep you posted as we go.

Yes, QBCC No: 15024607 covers plumbing and drainage plus gasfitting, so one licensed crew handles both the water side and the gas side of your job anywhere on the island.
We do, the full job is quoted in writing before any work begins, and the price you agree to upfront is what you pay when the work is finished, with nothing added later.
Same-day where we can, ring early and we'll do our best to get someone to your Bongaree address that day, while calmer problems can wait for a booked visit at a time that suits you.
Card or EFTPOS on site, tapped or inserted when we're done, so there's no account to chase, no transfer to remember and nothing owing after we leave your Bongaree place.
We work right across Bongaree, and the usual run also takes in Woorim, Bellara and Sandstone Point, so the island together with the bridge's mainland landing is a single trip for us.
Ring (07) 3067 4119, describe what's going on and when suits you, and we'll book a time, give the fixed quote before any work starts, and take card or EFTPOS on site when we finish.
